West Trade/Rozzelles Ferry Neighborhood Improvement Program

Getting the community involved in infrastructure and redevelopment

Charlotte, North Carolina

Public feedback is nice, but a robust dialogue is better. Dialogue builds partnerships, and partnerships build community. By working alongside community members, we produce recommendations that matter and build the public support officials need to move forward.

Case in point: Our study of two dozen neighborhoods in the West Trade/Rozzelles Ferry area on the west side of downtown Charlotte. We pulled nearly 500 stakeholders—people who know their neighborhoods inside-out—into workshops and other planning sessions. They helped us to assemble a program of coordinated infrastructure improvements and catalytic redevelopment projects.

With roughly $35 million in public funding, these projects aim to trigger an estimated $10.8 billion in private investment over 25 years.
