The airport was in need of several safety improvement upgrades to Runway 11-29. Our team was called in to provide the design and construction phase services to bring the airport in line with required safety improvements. We designed the replacement of the existing lighting system of Runway 11-29 with a new high intensity runway edge lighting system. The new lighting system included new edge lighting fixtures, light base cans, transformers, lighting cabling, counterpoise and a separate equipment grounding system.
We also replaced the existing damaged rotating beacon with a new rotating beacon mounted on a 55 foot high tip-down pole. The tip-down pole, the first of this type in New England, allows airport personnel to lower the beacon fixture to ground level for easy and safe maintenance.
