Hi there. I'm Julie Labonte, Senior Vice-President at Stantec. I am passionate about helping make sure that everyone on this planet, whether they are in North America or Africa, has access to safe and reliable drinking water. I am fortunate that my work at Stantec allows me to fulfill this passion.

Here in San Diego I lead the management of one of America's largest and most innovative potable reuse program, where we are using state-of-the-art water treatment technologies to safely convert waste water into drinking water. Following completion of the program, a third of San Diego's water supply will come from these new water purification facilities.

In my spare time I also like to volunteer on water projects abroad in developing countries like Malawi and Rwanda. It's through this volunteer work that I've come to realize that we, as engineers and infrastructure professionals, have the ability to impact the lives of so many people around the world, especially those who are much less fortunate than we are. When you think about it, that is incredible powerful.
