From handwritten notes to investigating sites with 100+ years industrial history

Ben Kortlever chats with the Australasian Land and Groundwater Association about his professional workplace journey and how far the contaminated land industry has come in the last 18 years
Once upon a time, when phones were strictly for calls, digital cameras had limited storage space, and advanced technology was simply out of reach due to cost, Ben Kortlever—a new environmental professional to the industry—had no option but to hand write his field records and file his notes manually.
Now almost 18 years later, Ben can enjoy the paperless approach and give more time to providing innovative solutions to critical and challenging issues on site due to our evolving technology.

Ben is a senior environmental geoscientist leading site assessment and remediation projects, providing technical direction and oversight. A trusted advisor to clients and mentor to colleagues, his priority is people and client relationships.
