Penguin Parade Phillip Island Visitor Centre
Located between dunes, wetlands, and the headlands on the Summerland Peninsula, this modern and environmentally sustainable centre offers a ctultural design and fun, interactive activities so the whole family can experience the life of a penguin. Situated among some of Perth’s oldest and most treasured heritage buildings, the architecturally stunning City of Perth Library is hard to miss. The modern seven-storey orbicular structure embraces design and culture and features spaces for young adults and children to utilise as learning rooms next to the real, living Tree of Knowledge. These origami-inspired sculptures in Western Australia seek to improve the public space linking the South Perth jetty to the Perth Zoo, an initiative from the Connect South project. The design promotes public amenity use through community space activation, navigation, and transport access, and it opens opportunities to boost the local economy. The dramatic figures highlight Australia's wildlife and Perth Zoo's crucial role in preserving indigenous species, offering protected sheltering on the Swan River's south foreshore.
