Connect South, Numbat & Frill-neck Lizard Sculptures
The Connect South civic project aims to improve the vibrancy of Mends Street and the Perth Zoo entrance. The new piazza offers the community and visitors seating areas to enjoy the atmosphere—and it includes two giant canopies that serve as shelters for people waiting for the ferries. The canopies, designed as a frilled neck lizard and numbat, feature lighting design and sounds to depict the sequences and beats of Australia from an Aboriginal perspective, highlighting and showing respect to the Whadjuk Noongar culture. The City of Perth Library features a unique circular design consisting of seven floors outfitted with flexible reading and learning spaces for young adults and children. With over 3,500 plants, a vertical garden, and the heritage design elements, the City of Perth Library embraces both the old and the new through sustainability and building performance.
