Stantec selected to design the proposed Cooranga Weir in Queensland’s Burnett Region

Stantec has been engaged by Sunwater to deliver the detailed design for the proposed Cooranga Weir, an important water infrastructure project that aims to strengthen water security and support agricultural productivity in Queensland’s Burnett Region.

The proposed weir, located on the Boyne River downstream of Boondooma Dam, will provide up to 2,500 megalitres of new water storage. This additional capacity will help improve the reliability of existing water allocations and create opportunities for future agricultural expansion.

Under the contract, Stantec will prepare the full design for the nine‑metre‑high, 180‑metre‑wide structure, including engineering design, technical drawings and construction support. A team of 15 Queensland‑based specialists will deliver the work, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to local expertise and regional project delivery.
