A mine closure specialist, Bob leads closure planning and engineering studies and designs and implements mine waste cover systems and tailings dewatering strategies. He conducts risk assessments to support regulatory compliance. He also engages with clients, regulators, and interested parties to develop closure solutions that meet both operational and environmental objectives.
Bob contributes to sustainable post-mining landscapes by integrating science, engineering, and practical solutions. One of the most rewarding projects he’s worked on involved multiphase closure studies—complex, multidisciplinary efforts that required collaboration across technical and regulatory teams. For him, translating scientific insights into practical, regulator-approved closure strategies was both challenging and fulfilling.
Away from his mine closure work, Bob enjoys gardening, nature photography, hiking, and traveling. He also contributes to professional conferences through writing and presentations.
