As a traffic modeller, Richard uses software to build simulations of road traffic environments, helping to inform early project planning. This enables him to guide clients on design, traffic signalling, operation, routing, access, and safety. Traffic modelling is all about the future—Richard’s models test future traffic conditions, up to 30 years in the future, so that issues or opportunities can be identified early.
Richard believes that a well-connected city is one that’s accessible, equitable, and fair. Planning for high quality infrastructure can have a huge impact on the livelihoods of our communities. He’s worked on several major infrastructure projects, including the Western Harbour Tunnel and Sydney Airport Access Strategy. On top of his role, Richard is a Melbourne champion for future mobility and GenerationAV™ autonomous vehicles.
Outside of work, you’ll find Richard exploring Melbourne’s great restaurant and music scene or following sports like basketball and Formula 1.
