Bertrand has contributed to the development and delivery of major dams and hydropower projects, resulting in work-related travel to more than 40 countries. He’s worked across the full project life cycle, from feasibility studies and financial close through to construction, commissioning, and operations.
In his over two decades in the industry, Bertrand has acted as an owner’s engineer, lender’s engineer, project manager, and project leader. He has helped deliver 13 hydropower projects, multiple large dams in Africa, and several bankable studies, providing him with strong technical, project delivery, and construction expertise. He also has extensive experience with International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) contracts and in developing tailored contract frameworks for major infrastructure projects.
Some of his key projects include the Phase 2 feasibility study for the Lesotho Highlands Water Project and, the delivery of the Kashimbila Multipurpose Dam and its associated infrastructure. He also worked on a feasibility study for the 1,360-megawatt Mt. Rawdon Pumped Hydro Energy Storage (PHES) project and served as owner’s engineer on the Capricornia PHES project.
