Arcadia Retirement Living - Engineering and Sustainability Services

Located just six kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD, Arcadia Retirement Living is part of the transformative urban renewal of the Yeronga Priority Development Area (PDA). Led by Economic Development Queensland, this 3.1-hectare site is being reimagined into a vibrant, intergenerational precinct.

We provided a comprehensive suite of engineering services during the design phase of the project. Drawing on our multidisciplinary expertise, we worked closely with RetireAustralia and the wider consultancy team to meet high standards of functionality, sustainability, and liveability in the design.

Our contributions included the detailed design of the three-tower facility, which features a shared podium and basement, enabling seamless integration of the towers and their amenities. Our early involvement in the overarching Yeronga PDA development, in collaboration with Economic Development Queensland, allowed us to bring valuable insights and innovative solutions that enhanced the project’s efficiency and outcomes. One such example involved the design of communal stormwater detention and treatment facilities to avoid duplication across numerous lots. Others included a combined-use driveway for access and refuse collection across adjoining lots and the significant reduction of bulk earthworks requirements across the lot.

When complete, Arcadia Retirement Living will deliver 159 premium independent living apartments alongside a 10-suite care hub. The development also includes carefully planned indoor and outdoor communal spaces, fostering social connection and a strong sense of community for residents.
