Bore Monitoring Program

Developing a groundwater level monitoring program to support a remote environment in the Northern Territory

  • Northern Territory, Australia

    Northern Territory, Australia

Using modern technology and data tools to monitor natural resources

The Northern Territory is home to important aquifers. Due to the key role aquifers play in the environment and water cycle, storing groundwater in porous rock and sediment, our client required a groundwater level monitoring program to help understand current aquifer conditions of land that embodies native diversity and cultural landscape. They reached out to our environment and geoscience team to help.

Our client first brought us in to inspect the condition of a remote production and observation groundwater bore field and deploy monitoring devices, which measured electrical conductivity and water levels. A few months later, we returned to the field to modify and deploy additional equipment in several production bores and check and extract data from existing equipment.

We reviewed the data and provided a factual report to our client. Additionally, we developed a field user guide and trained their staff to manually measure water levels and to download the monitoring device data.
