Dakabin Station Accessibility Upgrades

As part of the Queensland Rail (QR) Station Accessibility Upgrade Program, which focuses on providing greater accessibility to rail services, QR engaged us to provide concept designs to improve accessibility at Dakabin Station.

We created a single access path from accessible station entrances to assisted boarding points, which included platform raising and upgrading accessible parking and essential station and customer facilities. We also designed a new pedestrian footbridge with lift access—raising a central section of the platform to form an assisted boarding point—improved accessible parking, and upgraded hearing augmentation loops and tactile platform surfaces. Other features include upgraded security cameras and lighting around the central platform with new wayfinding and mostly digital platform signage.

These improvements support customers such as those using mobility devices, people with hearing or vision impairment, seniors, people with injuries, and those travelling with prams and luggage. The new station facilities and multi-storey car park officially opened in 2022.
