De Havilland Apartments
Representing a first in Western Australia, Bluerock Projects’ De Havilland apartments in Midland makes use of modern lightweight timber-frame construction to create stylish and sustainable mid-rise residences in this vibrant redeveloped area. Our job? Engineering consultancy in all disciplines.
We collaborated closely with suppliers and the architect to ensure the structural design was readily procured and compliant with Building Code Australia (BCA) and fire brigade standards. Transfer structures on the first floor are formed from engineered timber joists. Additional steel elements provide lateral stability and enabled a prefabricated wall to be fixed to the steel frame prior to positioning it against the boundary. Hebel lightweight dry concrete flooring systems facilitated a thin floor design to achieve the desired headroom, particularly within the mezzanine, and the acoustic design for the façade mitigates aircraft noise intrusion from a nearby flight path.
Going beyond minimal Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) thermal performance standards, De Havilland also benefits from a solar photovoltaic system with embedded network and water-efficient fixtures and fittings.
Combining sophistication and thoughtful design, the De Havilland apartments deliver modern designs and environmentally sustainable living in Perth at a very affordable price point.
