When a local developer was developing a new shopping centre in Delacombe, they turned to us. Delacombe Town Centre is led by anchor tenants Woolworths and Kmart, and features 35 small retailers, a six-screen cinema, environmentally conscious landscaping, and 825 car parks. A forerunner to an expansive adjoining residential and commercial precinct, the project required extensive planning and collaborations with the City of Ballarat, VicRoads, Central Highlands Water, and other local service authorities.
What did we do? We provided structural, civil and hydraulic engineering, and survey services. We used conventional design and construction techniques that are efficient, saving time on-site while also reducing the use of construction materials. Keeping the environment in mind, using water-sensitive urban design principles to discharge water flow, we created rain gardens and reused water across all buildings and through the neighbouring carwash facility.
The result? With the environment in mind, this new shopping centre complements the growing residential areas and reduces travel time to nearby towns encouraging growth within the thriving township—Delacombe Town Centre is a new hub for the community to enjoy.
