Growler Airborne Electronic Attack Capability Facilities Project

The Growler Airborne Electronic Attack Capability Facilities Project provided the buildings and infrastructure to support the acquisition and introduction into service of the EA-18G Growler - an electronic warfare variant of the F/A-18F Super Hornet. It possesses the ability to disrupt or jam a range of systems, including radars and communications. The considerable project scope included work at RAAF Base Amberley (QLD), Oakey Army Aviation Centre (QLD) and Delamere Air Weapons Range (NT).

To service the new fleet of aircraft, extensive refurbishment of existing facilities was carried out plus the construction of new buildings, expanding the capabilities for mission, training and support systems. Stantec provided Mechanical, Vertical Transportation, Electrical, Energy and Fire Detection Services, and the facilities incorporated highly technical specifications for operation and maintenance of the world-class electronic warfare system.

The introduction of this technology is enhancing battlespace situational awareness and provides important capability to support air, land and sea operations. Australia is the only country in the world, other than the United States, operating the Growler.
