Home Southbank

To address a need for accessible housing, Home Fund Australia is embarking on their first and flagship property under their build-to-rent portfolio—Home Southbank. Located near the Crown entertainment complex and Southbank waterfront precinct, the chosen site will be cleared and redeveloped to include apartments and retail facilities.

Our role included developing the building services brief for the build-to-rent accommodations. One challenge we faced was accommodating the desire to feature an illuminated crown on the top two levels of the building that would also hide the plant equipment. To comply with spill lighting—not exposing too much light to surrounding buildings—the crown would have to be evenly illuminated. We modeled this with light distribution to calculate how much light would be emitted and find an optimal solution. Upon completing the design, we have also been engaging in construction phase activity by offering multidisciplinary engineering services for electrical, sustainability, and lighting.

Home Southbank will offer residents aspiring to live in the area an exciting new place to live. Many apartments will feature spectacular views of the city or Melbourne skyline.
