More Trains More Services – Stage 2

Meeting the growing demand for public transport is crucial for train service providers. Looking to progressively deliver service improvements, the More Trains More Services (MTMS) Program is a series of staged investments aiming to transform service across the rail network in New South Wales. As part of a broader renovation, MTMS Stage 2 is a critical first step towards making more significant, transformational network changes. The integrated program of infrastructure, fleet, and operational changes will create capacity, reliability, and connectivity improvements for customers on three key routes.

How did we help? We provided the drainage and civil design for platform upgrades and extensions at Thirroul, Bellambi, Port Kembla, and Wollongong stations, including the stabling yards at Wollongong and Port Kembla. Additionally, we helped with structural design and geotechnical verification services. Using and sharing digital models throughout the project design life allowed for identification of potential conflicts.

The result? Increased capacity for the Longer New Inner City Fleet train services—more customers can get where they’re going on a modernised, more efficient rail network.
