Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA)

When natural disasters hit, it’s critical to repair impacts on roads and key infrastructure as quickly as possible. In recent years, our team has delivered services for Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) funded road and bridge restoration works throughout Queensland to a value of over $700 million. We’ve been responsible for all phases of reconstruction works delivery such as program management, assessment and approval, surveys, geotechnical testing, design, contract procurement, and construction phase services.

Managing large scale natural disaster restoration programs provides particular challenges and issues—requiring the need for strong governance and council involvement, understanding how to operate in large geographical areas—typically in remote locations—and understanding Queensland Reconstruction Authority guidelines. It also requires communication, approval processes, engaging and maintaining connections with local suppliers and contractors, as well as contractual arrangements and contract types, variation and scope risk on projects, and cashflow risk for councils.

On projects from the Whitsundays, Rockhampton, and Emerald, to Palm Island and Mackay, we’ve helped restore vital infrastructure, in turn making it more resilient for the future.
