Newtown Apartments, Williams Landing

Newtown Apartments is the first residential building to be constructed in the Williams Landing Town Centre precinct. Stantec provided full engineering services, adopting a modularised construction approach to meet cost and programme goals.

Close collaboration with the architects DKO was vital in arranging floor plates to achieve the vertical stacking required for both structure and services—key to speedy construction. Working with the builder and developer, we combined conventional building techniques with modular components to deliver a highly co-ordinated design.

Featuring standard concrete structure to level one, the building is topped with modular engineered timber structure at levels two and three. Our design enabled complete construction of the top two levels in just two weeks (18 apartments per floor). This achieved a significant reduction to the usual floor-to-floor cycle for a building like this, allowing services and fit-out to commence on the lower floors.

Positioned to take advantage of the town’s local amenities and proximity to transit services, Newton Apartments offers the rapidly expanding community at Williams Landing with an affordable residential option.
