Adding to hotel group Quest’s ‘Historic Headliners’ range of apartment hotels, FKG Group designed and constructed a new building in Toowoomba, Queensland that integrates with the heritage bell tower of the former Church of Christ. So how do you blend the services for a church constructed in 1903 with modern hotel amenities? That’s where Stantec’s building services specialists came in.
No longer heritage-listed, the century-old church was the subject of partial demolition and restoration to convert the interior into a stunning entrance with facilities for the apartments, which were constructed at the rear of the church. Liaising closely with the developer and architect, our teams developed an integrated design for compliant services to blend the historic tower and facade with the new six-storey building constructed on a greenfield site.
