The new Wentworth Point High School serves the expanding Sydney communities of Wentworth Point, Sydney Olympic Park, Newington, Silverwater, and Rhodes. Working with Roberts Co, our multidisciplinary team provided mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, sustainability, and vertical transport solutions, such as elevators and escalators.
To help reduce the school’s environmental footprint, we prioritised sustainability with a mixed-mode ventilation system with automated air conditioning control, a 99-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system, and automated, carbon dioxide demand control air conditioning. More than 90 percent of construction and demolition waste from the build was diverted from the landfill, and we incorporated best-practice stormwater pollutant treatment into the design. We also applied dark-sky lighting principles to provide safe outdoor lighting, reduce light pollution, and help preserve clear views of stars in the night sky.
Today, the school accommodates 1,500 students in modern classrooms and flexible learning spaces. The campus also features a multipurpose hall for sports and performances, outdoor areas with landscaped recreation zones, game courts, and canteen amenities. The project achieved a 5-Star Green Star Design and As-Built Rating in Round 1, with all targeted credits awarded in the initial submission to the Green Building Council of Australia.
