The master-planned residential development, Williams Landing is a bustling new community - boasting some of the highest population growth in Melbourne. So one thing was clear – it needed a shopping centre and associated amenities to complete it. Our team stepped in to help make this happen.
Located within 20km of Melbourne’s central business district, Williams Landing consisted of 2,500 homes with integrated parklands and numerous walking and cycling trails. To complement the development, our civil, structural and building services teams consulted on the new shopping centre to develop high-level documentation for a Design & Construct contract.
To achieve the desired outcomes for the town, we incorporated flood mitigation to protect the proposed complex from overland flows. Our designs provided a flagship supermarket alongside speciality retail and commercial space of around 10,000m2, and included over 13,000m² of hardstand pavement area for parking and internal roadways.
The completed Williams Landing shopping centre focuses on technology, sustainability and connectivity - realising an aspiration to deliver a ‘smart centre’ in a ‘smart city’.
