The Yinxingan River has been severely contaminated by sewage. Facing crucial water pollution problems, with toxins exceeding the limits of state’s environmental protection regulations, a watershed management process was urgently needed to address the water pollution issue.
At that time, we were promoting series of new watershed management technologies in China—the gravel contact oxidation process (GCOP) was one of them. The process provides excellent treatment ability to treat mid to low level contaminated water with high treatment efficiency. GCOP requires much less land compared with traditional artificial wetland of same capacity, making it an excellent solution for resolving the contaminated water issue.
Working closely with the client, we completed the preliminary and detail design to ensure the project would meet the local requirements for code, laws and regulations, and review procedure practice. As well, we coordinated between construction services, helping to explain the special design details of GCOPs and minimize the gap between the drawing and construction.
