Stantec held its 5th Annual Lecture on Resilience at the Headquarters of the Institution of Civil Engineers in London, UK. The lecture was co-promoted by Stantec, Heriot Watt University and the Institution of Civil Engineers in support of sustainability and action on climate change and, this year formed part of the prestigious week-long Global Engineering Congress.
Professor Richard Dawson of Newcastle University delivered this year’s lecture, focused on Climate Resilient Infrastructure, to an international audience. Professor Dawson discussed the impacts of climate change on infrastructure and explored developments to provide more resilient infrastructure.
David Smith, Stantec’s SVP Corporate Strategy, moderated the lecture and the panel Q&A session which followed. Questions from the audience, and posted online, were fielded by the panel members, who included ICE past-President Professor Paul Jowitt of Heriot Watt University; Ian Nicholson, Director of CEEQUAL & Infrastructure at BRE Group and Adrian Johnson, Technical Director at Stantec.
David Smith said, ”We are delighted to have had such a great response to our 5th Annual Lecture on Resilience. The lecture and panel discussion generated energy, enthusiasm and passion. We will build this momentum into our on-going work with communities to take forward action on climate change and more resilient infrastructure.”
We care about the communities we serve—because they're our communities too. This allows us to assess what's needed and connect our expertise, to appreciate nuances and envision what's never been considered, to bring together diverse perspectives so we can collaborate toward a shared success.
We're designers, engineers, scientists, and project managers, innovating together at the intersection of community, creativity, and client relationships. Balancing these priorities results in projects that advance the quality of life in communities across the globe.
