With three decades of work as a project manager, quality control engineer, structural team leader, and designer, it’s no wonder that Garen has been told by his clients that he knows their bridges better than they do! His proactive approach to his bridge inspection and structural design work has also garnered him praise for identifying what work needs to be done ahead of time.
While Garen finds all his memorable, his most gratifying assignment involved providing emergency response inspections for hundreds of NYC bridges and sign structures in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Although performing the inspections within a tight timeframe was stressful, resuming traffic for motorists and ensuring that the integrity of the structures was not jeopardized by the storm was extremely fulfilling for Garen, since he was able to provide the public with a sense of safety and security after a devastating natural disaster.
