Josh and the Iqaluit office work on some of the territory’s largest projects (such as site reviews for the $300M Iqaluit International Airport improvement project) as well as small renovations (such as the Elder’s Centre barrier-free upgrades project). For Josh, the highlight is working with people in his community.

With experience ranging from design and project visualization to contract documents, project administration, site inspections, and client/consultant meetings and presentations, Josh is quickly becoming one of our key Northern designers. He’s got an attentive eye to detail and always has the overall project scope in hand.

Recently, Josh and his team have been working on the Iqaluit Aquatic Centre—a landmark community project that will open a new and upgraded facility for Nunavut’s capital. It’s a very complex project, creating a hot and humid building in a harsh, dry, arctic environment.

Coming from a remote arctic community, Josh embraces the culture and environment that are the lifeblood of those places. He spends as much time camping and on the land as he can, hunting and gathering with his wife and children. He believes in learning from the land and passing that knowledge on—and that architecture can do the same.
