Joe Geller

Senior Vice President

Photo of Joe

For nearly 40 years, Joe’s been engaged with urban projects across North America. He’s most passionate about the intersection of urban design, planning, and landscape architecture and the continued exploration of the design of the public realm. He’s honed his public engagement skills and uses them to lead public meetings, workshops, and charrettes—focusing on the strategic aspects of planning, permitting, and the entitlement processes for many complex projects.

Right now, as our Urban Places director, Joe is charged with uniting our urban-focused talent so they can provide clients with an interdisciplinary approach when building livable, equitable, sustainable communities. He’s helped create teams across the globe that plan and design authentic urban places, and as a leader in his community, Joe was recently appointed to the Advisory Committee at Northeastern University’s School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs.

A part of Stantec’s Diversity and Inclusion Council, Joe believes that encouraging diversity and inclusion lives up to our value of doing what is right—and it makes good business sense. Our clients, more so than ever before, expect our teams and leadership to represent the diversity of the communities that we live and work in.

Most mornings before work, you can find Joe running and taking in the fresh air at the Muddy River Reservation in Frederick Law Olmsted’s Emerald Necklace park system.
