How you interact with a space matters to Zach. As a landscape architect, he designs with people in mind and strives to create spaces that engage the user. The JW Marriott in Austin is one example of where he enhanced the user’s experience through the design of streetscapes and public spaces. (Not an easy feat considering it covers an entire city block and is the second largest JW Marriott in the world.)
Zach used his design experience to make this mammoth hotel feel less intimidating to pedestrians. The result is a landscape that engages pedestrians and helps bring the hotel down to their scale. His talents include project management and context-sensitive design on projects ranging from mixed-use and high-density developments to parks and resorts. Project diversity and exploring the how and why behind people’s interactions with spaces are what he loves most about his job.
When he’s not managing daily operations, Zach likes to travel and explore new places with his wife and kids.
