Angus McGrath

Principal Geochemist

Photo of Angus

A recognized expert in environmental geochemistry and remediation, Angus’s career has evolved steadily and naturally. He inherited his intense curiosity and problem-solving ability from his father, a 25-year CIA veteran, and his passionate commitment to protecting environmental resources is a deep-rooted value after growing up near the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil—the most biodiverse and over-exploited region in the world.

At nine, Angus made baking soda and vinegar rockets. By 32, with his doctorate complete, he conducted research focused on selenium in the San Francisco Bay sediments and wetlands. As a consultant, Angus researches emerging contaminants and develops new remediation strategies. As a client advocate, he evaluates long-term liability and prioritizes risk, determines appropriate end-points for remediation, and provides agency representation. You can find several of his many published papers in Remediation Journal, Groundwater Monitoring and Remediation, and Physiochemical and Engineering Aspects

His future? Angus plans to continue doing what he does best—cleaning up mankind’s nastiest messes.
