The people behind the plans: How trust is driving the Parkview Hospital expansion in Dubai

February 10, 2026

Mediclinic Middle East teams with Stantec to grow Parkview Hospital, improving access to advanced care in Dubai

In this series, we’ll explore the power of collaboration and co-creation with our clients. These partnerships showcase how we rise to the world’s greatest challenges together.

In the heart of New Dubai, where innovation shapes the skyline, Mediclinic Middle East is expanding its flagship Mediclinic Parkview Hospital (MPH). What’s rising beside MPH isn’t just an addition, it’s what happens when shared purpose meets professional experience.

Ideas move faster, solutions evolve, and care reaches farther to support a growing community.

Why Mediclinic chose Stantec—again

When the expansion plans took shape, Alan Wilkinson, the senior director of engineering services at Mediclinic Middle East, knew exactly who to call.

“We chose Stantec because of our experience with the original Parkview Hospital,” Wilkinson says. “It was delivered ahead of schedule and within the expected budget range—something rare in this region. We wanted to make lightning strike twice.”

For Wilkinson, it’s more than results. It’s also about the people involved. He notes, “Stantec’s culture is what draws us in. You get the sense that these people are reliable and consistent. We’re working with people, not just a corporation.”

Facing challenges, finding solutions

Expanding a hospital in a busy urban area comes with challenges, including limited space, a tight timeline, and the need for seamless integration with the existing facility. Our team’s deep knowledge of the site and Mediclinic’s needs helped accelerate the design process, but the real difference comes from how the teams worked together.

“It’s not just about checking boxes,” says Georgina Brooks, Stantec’s project manager. “It’s about trust. We’ve had open, honest conversations, especially when things get tough. We’ve sat side by side, printed out plans, and solved problems together.”

This hands-on approach led to smart solutions. One example? A whole morning spent going through the site plans with Mediclinic to reclassify space utilization. “We actually identified a significant amount of usable space in the existing site, which we were able to put into our building application for the new site,” Brooks says.

Navigating complex codes and cutting costs

The project’s complexity demanded more than technical skills. It required adaptability and teamwork. When a change in Dubai Civil Defence codes threatened to increase the budget significantly, the team acted quickly.

“We met with the authorities, presented our case, and managed to reduce additional costs substantially,” Wilkinson explains. “That only happened because everyone was willing to collaborate.”

That spirit of partnership shows up everywhere, from design workshops with biomedical engineers to weekly progress meetings and quick text updates. “Without collaboration, we wouldn’t get the information we need to design effectively,” Brooks says. “That would cost time and money.”

What this expansion means for healthcare in Dubai

Once complete, the expansion will bring new services to MPH, including ambulatory care, sports medicine, oncology, and nuclear medicine. These additions will match the high standards of the existing facility and help meet growing demand.

“Parkview is already at capacity after just seven years,” Brooks says. “This expansion is expected to support more appointments, reduce wait times, and improve access to advanced care.”

Wilkinson sees the impact clearly. “Technology has come so far. People who once faced terminal cancer now have improved treatment options and outcomes. We’re changing what healthcare looks like in Dubai.”

Like a good pair of shoes

At the heart of this project is a partnership built on trust, consistency, and shared goals. It’s a reminder that when clients and consultants come together—not just as organizations, but as people—the results can be transformational.

As Wilkinson puts it, “It’s like a good old pair of shoes. You slip them on and run a marathon together, knowing you’re comfortable, and you’re going to make it.”

With every community, we redefine what’s possible. Through collaboration with our clients, together we will unlock outcomes neither could achieve alone.
