We helped raise over $1.95 million at the Caring for Kids Radiothon
After receiving an overwhelming response to our call for volunteers for the Caring for Kids Radiothon, there was a draw for the seven volunteer spots available to answer phones and collect pledges. The lucky winners arrived at the Alberta Children’s Hospital at 5:15 AM on February 7 to report for duty. Though they were groggy, they couldn’t help feeling motivated by the energy in the building, and couldn’t wait to help the hospital raise funds to keep performing the miracles they do every day. During Stantec’s volunteer shift, the radiothon raised $45,599! The Stantec Power Hour alone (between 7:00 and 8:00) brought in 125 new Miracle Makers who have pledged a monthly donation to the hospital, and a total of $29,259 in donations.
Overall, the event raised over $1.95 million as 80 children, their families, and caregivers told their stories of hope, help, and healing on Country 105 FM radio in Calgary. Country music star and former Alberta Children's Hospital nurse Paul Brandt also dropped by to co-host with the radio announcers and talk with the families. Much to our volunteers’ excitement, he made a point of coming to Stantec’s phone bank table to thank us for our contributions to the event, and even posed for a picture with our team.
We are proud of our involvement in the radiothon. We helped design the hospital, most recently leading the design of the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and now we get to continue our relationship with this amazing facility and its talented staff. Not only was Stantec a radiothon sponsor, our people volunteered their time, listened to the radio, and pledged donations as well. Some familiar voices called in from Stantec during our Power Hour, and our online fundraising page collected an additional $850 from our staff, their families, and friends. Thanks to you, the radiothon has funded:
