eLearning that delivers on operational procedures and best management practices
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) had six eLearning courses that needed updating and three new courses to be developed. These environmental awareness courses covered operations and best management practices in everything from spill prevention control to water quality permits.
To update the six existing courses, our Stantec Learning Products and Solutions team of instructional designers took content from the old versions and developed new storyboards with design and content ideas to improve course interactivity. We then developed the courses in Articulate Storyline with a new look and feel, improved interactivity, knowledge checks with relevant case studies, and recorded narration.
For the three new courses, VDOT subject matter experts (SMEs) drafted PowerPoints with content. Our instructional designers then interviewed the SMEs to get a better understanding of how to present the content. Once completed, we produced the courses in SCORM and mp4 versions for the client to use on their internal systems.
VDOT now has updated courses with improved instructional design that are available 24/7 within the learning management system to improve overall compliance with best management practices.
