With its foothold along Australia’s East Coast and Stantec’s offices in the western part of the country, this acquisition balances our presence across mainland Australia. Together, the Australian Environmental Services team grows to nearly 450 people with Niche.

Supporting Australia’s energy transition, HumeLink involves the development of about 365 kilometres (227 miles) of high-voltage transmission line and associated infrastructure. Niche prepared HumeLink’s Biodiversity Development Assessment Report, the largest assessment of its kind in NSW.
Niche provides ongoing advice on potential measures to refine clearing methods to limit ecological impacts and reduce the biodiversity offset requirements. Additionally, Niche and Transgrid liaise with a range of interested parties, including landholders and government.

Parramatta Square Redevelopment

Services: Aboriginal Heritage Management, Archaeological Excavation, Analysis, and Reporting

Part of the $2.7 billion municipal Parramatta Square redevelopment, Niche carried out archaeological excavations for one of the largest urban transformation projects in the country. Conducted in collaboration with Dharug Traditional Owners, the work identified and preserved Aboriginal cultural heritage, uncovering artifacts and archaeological deposits.
Artifacts gathered in this project were returned to the Dharug Keeping Place, providing accessibility for generations to come. This work contributes to the story of Aboriginal life in Parramatta over the last 10,000 years.

Atlas Natural Gas Field

Services: Strategic Biodiversity Offset

Ausecology implemented a strategic biodiversity offset for Senex Energy in Queensland. The project included due diligence and site assessments to identify a suitable property, as well as development and regulator negotiation for the Offset Management Plan, combining expertise in biodiversity strategy and on-ground environmental management. The offset property now conserves habitat for koalas, greater gliders, and glossy black cockatoos.
