Seismic resilience boost: Priest Rapids Dam undergoes major upgrades

Hannah Reybrock and Thomas Andrews were featured in Water Power Magazine where they discuss how seismic risks were addressed at the Priest Rapids Dam
Designed by Stantec, the Priest Rapids Dam received substantial upgrades to improve its seismic resilience. Notably, a new downstream roller-compacted concrete (RCC) dam was built to address liquefaction risks in the existing embankment. The project was designed to withstand an earthquake with a moment magnitude of 7.1, promoting reservoir stability and preventing uncontrolled releases.
Tom Andrews and Hannah Reybrock were featured in Water Power Magazine where they explore some of the Priest Rapids Dam Upgrade Project’s most intriguing aspects.
