Stantec’s Winter Wardrobe Campaign collected winter gear and handmade blankets to support communities and bring comfort to people in need.
Stantec’s Winter Wardrobe Campaign is a warm reminder that meaningful impact often begins with simple acts of care. By bringing employees together to collect cold weather essentials for community members in need, the initiative highlights the power of collaboration rooted in empathy. It reflects a culture where people look out for one another—inside and outside the organization—and shows how shared compassion can spark real, tangible change during the harshest months of the year.
Each winter, offices across our North American regions gather new or gently used winter gear such as hats, gloves, scarves, and coats for community organizations that support individuals in need. This season, 31 offices collected an impressive 2,383 items. Leading the way were:
Several offices personalized their collections based on specific requests from the shelters they supported. Employees in Indianapolis gathered hand and foot warmers along with packaged snacks, while the Chicago team focused on socks and blankets.
Adding a new twist to the campaign this year, the Women@Stantec Employee Resource Group hosted tie‑blanket events across 14 offices in the US and Canada. The Okemos, Michigan office put a creative spin on the activity, making 14 animal crate‑sized blankets for the Ingham County Animal Shelter. The Minneapolis and Woodbury offices teamed up to create 30 blankets for Children’s Hospital of Minnesota. In total, 130 blankets were donated to hospitals, shelters, warming centers, youth centers, and animal shelters across North America—an impressive achievement for a first‑time event.
The Lynnwood and Seattle Developing Professionals Group (DPG), along with the San Diego DPG, also hosted tie‑blanket events—wonderful opportunities to bring staff together while giving back to their communities.
“For the campaign, I thought it would be a fun and rewarding idea to donate crate-sized no-sew blankets to the Ingham County Animal Shelter, which were perfect for pets waiting for their forever homes,” said Mario Meo, DPG Lead in Okemos, Michigan. “I was really impressed by our employees coming together and volunteering their time to support our local community. I also appreciate the DPG for helping purchase the materials and making it possible for us to give back in a meaningful way. Meeting some of the animals at the shelter was a great reminder that even small acts of kindness can have a big impact!”
In addition to these efforts, Stantec will be donating $10,000 to Project Linus, a nonprofit organization with chapters across Canada and the United States whose mission is to support children who are ill, experiencing trauma, or facing hardship by providing them with handmade blankets that offer warmth, comfort, and a sense of security.
Together, these contributions represent far more than a seasonal tradition—they embody the heart of who we are. Every coat donated, every blanket tied, and every moment spent supporting our neighbors reinforces Stantec’s commitment to strengthening the communities we serve. As we wrap up another successful Winter Wardrobe Campaign, we carry forward the reminder that small acts of kindness, multiplied across our offices, create lasting warmth and connection. It’s a powerful foundation as we continue finding new ways to uplift one another all year long.
