Today, aging infrastructure, increasingly stringent stormwater quality regulatory requirements, flood risk management, water supply reliability, and budgetary and workforce constraints dictate that a new way of stormwater management is needed to optimize business practices. By implementing core asset management processes, stormwater managers can gain knowledge of the assets owned, the remaining useful life to manage, the amount of investment required, and the business risk it faces.
Stantec’s Ed Othmer, Vice President and Sector Leader for Stormwater and Wet Weather Flow, discusses how a Watershed Asset Management Plan enables an organization to have the information required to make the right decision, at the right time, at the right cost, for the right reason.
