Selenium is an essential element in living organisms, and plays a critical role in human health. However, selenium pollution is of serious environmental concern and attributed to growing industrial activities. As water quality requirements become more strict, chemical and biological treatments strategies are becoming more advanced to tackle its toxicity.
Dr. Rob Simm is part of an esteemed group of water practitioners who have contributed chapters to this new advanced textbook from the International Water Association – Environmental Technologies to Treat Selenium Pollution: Principles and Engineering. Dr. Simm’s chapter six fits in the remediation of selenium contamination portion of the book and discusses biological treatment technologies.
