The United Kingdom’s ambitious renewable energy goals will require a diverse collection of energy resources to create a reliable and sustainable power grid.  Pumped storage facilities, such as the Coire Glas project in Scotland, can provide the generating capacity, flexibility, and rapidly response necessary to compensate for the inconsistent output inherent with other renewable sources such as wind and solar.
