Edmonton Crosswalk Mural

June 17, 2022

Our Developing Professionals Group and Employee Resource Groups create artwork in downtown Edmonton for Stantec in the Community Week

On June 20th, 2022 members of Edmonton’s Developing Professionals Group, and various Employee Resource Groups (ERG) joined employee volunteers to paint a crosswalk mural outside of Stantec Tower. This mural represents every Stantec ERG was painted at the start of Stantec in the Community Week as part of a ‘downtown beautification’ project.

This is the first crosswalk mural that will be painted by an organization outside of the City of Edmonton.

From left to right the artwork reflects the ERGs as follows:

  • Persons with disabilities ERG: Addition symbols represent inclusion, various colors represent the various disabilities making up this ERG
  • Pride @ Stantec: Pride flag
  • Asians @ Stantec: Mandala
  • Latinos in Stantec: Latino textile
  • Women @ Stantec: Female silhoutte
  • BLK_ERG: Various shades of brown and black (this is taken from the BLK_ERG’s banner logo)
  • Indigenous Connections: This represents Treaty 6, which was created to last “as long as the sun shines, the grass grows and the river flows”
  • Military and Veteran Advocates: Camo pattern
