Facing negative yearly cash flows and major capital expenditure costs, a global diversified miner wanted to use technology to improve the situation

The need at the mine was clear: without innovative approaches, the mine would have to close. The owner sought to understand and model the impacts new technologies would have on the operation.
Stantec was awarded the 2019 Service and Support award from Mining Magazine for this innovative project in which we used Techno-Economic modeling and digital twinning to turn a mine closure into a reinvestment.
