In this video, we speak to Greg Grandy, the coastal resources administrator for the state of Louisiana. He talks about proper flood mitigation.
Grandy explains that a community’s flood history—or lack thereof—often impacts their flood-mitigation efforts. It’s important for communities to identify their risks. Then they can figure out ways to effectively mitigate those risks.
Steve Mathies, Stantec’s global practice leader for coastal restoration, has helped communities with flood-mitigation strategies for more than four decades. And for many communities, it all boils down to funding.
One innovative approach uses AI-derived flood prediction modeling. It can help communities of all sizes to better plan for flood mitigation.
