14 new rail stations will increase mobility in Greater Montreal
Stantec joins CDPQ Infra and partners in celebrating the commissioning of the Réseau express métropolitain’s (REM) Deux-Montagnes branch, a major public transit infrastructure project in North America.
This new branch, which includes 14 new stations, now connects Montreal’s South Shore and North Shore, bringing the network to a total of 19 stations spanning 50 kilometers. This project enhances mobility for users across Greater Montreal and connects to the city’s metro system. Stantec has been providing engineering services on the overall project since early planning stages.
The opening marks a significant milestone in the delivery of the REM, as construction is progressing in several phases. The South Shore branch, connecting Brossard to downtown Montreal, opened in the summer of 2023.
Stantec continues to support the project by providing engineering services for the development of the next REM branches, including those in Montreal’s West Island and the Montréal–Trudeau International Airport area. Once all phases of the project are completed, the REM will cover 67 kilometers and include 26 stations.
