Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation selects Stantec to design Bradford Bypass

November 28, 2025

Sixteen-kilometre controlled-access freeway will help reduce congestion in one of Ontario's busiest transportation corridors

The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario has selected Stantec to lead design on the East section of the Bradford Bypass, which will connect Highway 400 and Highway 404, both major arteries north of Toronto. The project aims to reduce traffic congestion in one of the fastest-growing regions in North America. Stantec will also support design on the Central section of the Bypass, which will be led by WSP Canada Inc. The total length of the controlled-access freeway will be 16.3 kilometres.

The Greater Golden Horseshoe, which surrounds Toronto, is one of the fastest-growing regions in North America. The region is expected to attract one million new residents every five years, reaching nearly 15 million by 2051. In preparation to address this growth, the Ontario Government projects the Bradford Bypass will save commuters up to 35 minutes, compared to traveling on local roads.
