May 08, 2026

The newly named Triffo School of Business recognizes his advocacy for education and leadership

MacEwan University has named its School of Business in honor of Ron Triffo, Stantec’s chairman emeritus and former chief executive officer, celebrating a career defined by leadership, generosity, and a deep commitment to community.

A respected business leader, philanthropist, and community advocate, Triffo began his career as an engineer, working with municipal, regional, and federal governments before becoming Stantec’s second CEO. Under his leadership, the firm experienced transformative growth, expanding from approximately 150 employees into an organization of thousands of engineers, architects, and designers through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions.

The newly named Triffo School of Business recognizes Triffo’s professional accomplishments, as well as his belief in education as a catalyst for opportunity and city‑building. The naming follows a generous gift that will support the new business school building, helping re‑energize Edmonton’s downtown while creating a vibrant hub for students, faculty, and the broader business community.

This investment builds on Triffo’s longstanding relationship with MacEwan. In 2017, he and his late wife, Dorothy, named the Triffo Theatre in Allard Hall, a cultural cornerstone that continues to bring music and theatre performances to the community year‑round.

Together, these contributions reflect a legacy rooted in leadership, learning, and giving back, shaping the institutions, as well as the communities they serve.
