The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) has selected Stantec for a seven-year on-call environmental services contract with an initial capacity of US$15 million, marking a meaningful step in the Company’s work with the agency. Through this contract, Stantec will support environmental review and compliance efforts across some of SFPUC’s most critical water, power, and wastewater operations.
“This collaboration underscores growing demand for integrated environmental planning and compliance as SFPUC continues to make infrastructure improvements and navigate climate and permitting complexities,” said Scott Oppelt, senior principal and business center practice leader at Stantec. “While Stantec has supported several of SFPUC’s water projects, this award represents our first major environmental services opportunity with the agency.”
Work will include National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) analysis, environmental permitting, and construction-phase compliance monitoring—helping SFPUC move projects forward while maintaining alignment with state and federal regulatory requirements.
Led by Stantec’s Environmental Services team in the Bay Area, with support from the Water team, the work will focus on navigating evolving regulatory frameworks, reducing project risk, and supporting responsible project delivery.
