The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has selected Cavnue, with technical support from Stantec, to lead a smart freight corridor pilot. The pilot will run along a 31-mile segment of I-40, stretching from Memphis to Blue Oval City, one of Tennessee’s busiest and most important freight corridors. Stantec will support the delivery of the pilot program through specialized Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) support to improve safety, reliability, and corridor performance in West Tennessee.
The Smart Road Platform will support faster incident response, reduce congestion, and improve overall system efficiency along I-40. As freight volumes continue to grow in Western Tennessee, this work will provide TDOT with greater visibility into corridor conditions, helping inform future freight planning. Additionally, through the implementation of ITS technologies along the corridor, TDOT will gain access to critical real-time data, supporting their ability to create safer, less congested roads.
