Stantec wins two business achievement awards from Environmental Business  Journal

April 29, 2026

The awards acknowledge the firm’s work on trash capture in Southern California and a major contract win with the U.S. Navy

The Environmental Business Journal recognized Stantec with two awards at a recent ceremony. The awards celebrate the firm’s efforts to address complex environmental challenges on military installations, and to reduce trash and debris entering sensitive marine environments.

The first award was given to Stantec as part of Triquetra III—a joint venture (JV) of Stantec, Tetra Tech, and APTIM. In 2025 the team was selected by NAVFAC Southwest for an eight-year, single-award task order in support of the U.S. Navy’s Comprehensive Long-Term Environmental Action Navy (CLEAN) program. The JV is conducting studies to identify, delineate, and design remedial alternatives for some of the Navy’s most complex environmental challenges, including PFAS contamination and other hazardous substances at military installations.

Stantec also received an award for innovative coastal trash capture solutions. In California, Stantec has worked with numerous clients on successful trash capture projects in major coastal watersheds, including the Newport Bay Trash Interceptor—the West Coast’s first water wheel‑powered trash collection device. Powered by river currents and solar energy, the system captures a significant portion of floating debris before it impacts downstream habitats and communities, reducing cleanup efforts while supporting public health and environmental equity objectives.
