Strong communities depend on people feeling supported, connected, and empowered to seek help when they need it. Across North America, Stantec is working alongside two leading mental health organizations, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in the United States, and the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) in Canada, to help advance mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and connect more people with critical resources and support.
Since becoming a corporate partner of both organizations in 2024, Stantec has combined financial contributions with employee volunteerism and engagement to help strengthen community-based mental health programs, advocacy efforts, and education initiatives that reach thousands of people each year. Together, these partnerships reflect a shared belief that building healthier, more resilient communities starts with caring for the people who call them home.
Partnering with NAMI in the US
As part of its 2026 partnership with NAMI, Stantec supported Mental Illness Awareness Week through a challenge gift campaign that encouraged employees and communities to contribute to NAMI’s mission. Stantec also invested in NAMI on Campus, a program that empowers student-led mental health clubs in high schools and colleges across the country.
Today, NAMI supports 339 high school clubs and 243 college clubs that create safe spaces for conversation, promote mental health awareness, connect students with resources, and encourage help-seeking behaviors. These efforts are helping young people build understanding, resilience, and a sense of belonging during some of life's most formative years.
Founded in 1979, NAMI is the largest grassroots mental health organization in the United States, with 49 NAMI State Organizations and more than 650 local NAMI Affiliates nationwide. Through education, peer support, advocacy, and public awareness programs, NAMI helps individuals living with mental health conditions, along with their families and caregivers, navigate challenges and find support. These include education courses, mental health presentations, support groups, HelpLine services, outreach initiatives for specific communities, and youth and young adult resources.
Advancing CMHA’s impact in Canada
In Canada, Stantec continued its support of CMHA through initiatives including the Push-Up Challenge, Mental Health Week, the Stantec in the Community Week webinar challenge, and the recently-launched Strong Enough to Rest campaign.
As a Dollar Match Day Partner in the 2026 Push-Up Challenge, Stantec matched donations up to $100,000 in a single day, helping amplify support for mental health programs across the country. Employees also embraced the challenge with 140 Stantec employees completing nearly 140,000 push-ups and raising more than $16,000 for CMHA.
Founded in 1918, CMHA is Canada’s largest and most established community-based mental health organization. Through a national office, 11 provincial and territorial divisions, and 61 local branches and regions, CMHA reaches more than 330 communities nationwide. Its work spans mental health promotion, prevention, early intervention, recovery, peer support, education, advocacy, and community-based services, creating meaningful impact in the lives of millions of Canadians.
Creating healthier, more resilient communities
Mental health touches every community, workplace, and family. Through its partnerships with NAMI and CMHA, as well as support for local chapters and regional initiatives, Stantec is helping expand access to resources, strengthen community connections, and foster greater understanding of mental health across North America.
Together, we're helping create communities where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to thrive.
