Stantec to assess plans for major street lighting project in Jordanian capital of Amman

Helping to achieve better lighting quality and significantly reduce energy consumption, CO2 emissions, and operational and maintenance costs.

ISTANBUL, ON TSX,NYSE:STN

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) selected Stantec for the technical, environmental and social due diligence of an upgrade project of part of the urban street lighting system of the city of Amman in Jordan, to achieve better lighting quality and significantly reduce energy consumption, CO2 emissions, and operational and maintenance costs.

Greater Amman Municipality is responsible for approximately 110,000 streetlights throughout Amman, the fastest growing municipality in Jordan with a population of 4.4 million people. Stantec will assist the municipality with defining the scope of the project and conducting a technical, E&S due diligence study that will help the EBRD appraise the project and decide on the prospective financing.

Stantec will be working with the EBRD to assess its feasibility study of the project, and directly with relevant stakeholders to review and summarize the plans for this street lighting project, and help define its scope. This includes reviewing technical elements of the materials, as well as their potential energy savings, the lighting plans and mapping, and an overview of the possibilities for private sector financing and all environmental and social aspects of the project. And as part of the project we also provide cost overviews and potential annual energy savings and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions, as well as best practices from around the globe that can be applied to the situation here in Jordan.
